The Deal was the second project, and first solo project for Cinematography II. The assignment was to “Light for mood”. We picked a genre, studied lighting motifs, and then we were let free.
At first I was going to do some kind of comedic dialogue sequence involving a channer taking a body pillow to dinner, and getting beat up by his sauce guido poser older brother, but my acting skills couldn’t match what I wrote. So I said screw coherence, and made a discomforting dream thing.
Natalie, from internet played The Client. We only knew each other for a few months. She told me she acted, and I wanted to see her act. I don't know if this was the best script to act with, It's mostly visuals, but uhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I also needed a ride to the locations, thanks Natalie!
I went around the suburbs looking for the weirdest most isolated pockets I could film in with no eyes to watch me. As soon as I saw the penis wall behind the movie theater I knew I was filming something there. I had a bunch of weird clothes I always wanted to wear in movies that made their way in here. Maybe you'll see some of them again.
The class was surprised when I told them I played all the parts that weren’t The Client. My disguises are confirmed to fool. This film is a metaphor for something, but you don't get to know what it is.
